Job Description

BRS is an independent registered charity working in partnership with individuals and agencies to improve the quality of life and promote the physical, social and mental well-being of refugees and asylum seekers who live, work or study within London Borough of Barnet and across London helping to reduce health inequalities, social exclusion and poverty and enabling positive integration. As part of our Holistic Model of Support, the Therapeutic Service provides psycho-social activities, echotherapy, annual retreats, one to one counselling, group therapy and other relevant mental health support activities through a team of psychological therapists to asylum seekers and refugees presenting with mental distress.

We wish to appoint a highly motivated qualified and experienced Therapeutic Services Manager to join our small, friendly and busy team and take responsibility for the delivery of our therapeutic activities.

This is a key role within the Barnet Refugee Service to lead and support the therapeutic team to deliver an efficient, effective and informed holistic mental health support service to refugees and asylum seekers who may be in mental crisis/distress.

The successful candidate will have experience of managing a therapeutic service, supervising and supporting counsellors or other mental health professionals (paid staff or volunteers), have substantial experience of providing one of one counselling, assessing and allocating clients, managing own caseload of complex cases and have an in-depth knowledge of refugees mental health issues.

He/she will also hold a qualification in Counselling and psychotherapy at Diploma level or above at BACP (or equivalent) required standard, has accreditation or working towards that at an advanced level.
