ThinkForward delivers unique, personalised coaching programmes for young people at a key stage in their lives, enabling them to overcome the challenges they face and make a successful transition into work. Every young person takes part in workplace activities to develop their life goals and readiness for work. We raise the voices of our young people and support employers to provide fair access to opportunities.

We have recently launched our new five-year strategy with aspirations to double the number of young people we support. The pandemic has disproportionately impacted young people and we are determined to be part of creating a future where they can thrive and fulfil their ambitions.

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to lead on embedding a culture of excellence across the Operations function. This new role was created to build the capacity of the team and ensure we can deliver on our ambitious strategy. They will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to refine our financial operating model and ensure we remain financially sustainable as we grow. They will be part of an experienced and committed Operations team that supports and enables the work of ThinkForward. We are interested in fresh ideas about how we can achieve our objectives and the team culture is very autonomous, yet collaborative.

The role will line manage two staff members and be part of a wider team of six staff. There will be opportunities to work closely with the Impact team if this is of interest as a developmental opportunity.

The role’s responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for budgeting, financial planning and forecasting as well as ensuring ThinkForward is compliant with relevant laws and regulations
  • Developing technical financial operating models to underpin new funding bids and
    strategic growth
  • Improving and supporting the development of financial capability across the organization
  • Oversight of the management of operational risk across the organization
  • Ensuring staff have the resources they need to fulfil their roles, including responsibility for Facilities and IT management

We recognise the importance of flexible working opportunities to staff and we are open to this role working flexibly. This could mean a mix of remote working, working across multiple sites and flexing the 30 hours over the full week. We are open to suggestions and will prioritise appointing the best candidate for the role and making reasonable adjustments to enable this where needed.
