Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Major Gifts Manager who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be responsible for building relationships with potential new supporters who are capable of making significant gifts to an inspiring health charity.

The Role:
Research and identification of new, and building on existing, relationships with individuals with a focus on securing five and six figure donations in line with agreed targets.
Ensure meeting plans are in place for donor meetings, making recommendations for who is best to attend such meetings, and provide verbal briefings where necessary (including briefing the CEO, trustees and other senior volunteers).
To be the named contact for members of the high level giving club and managing ad-hoc communications. Working with the Philanthropy Officer who is responsible for compiling regular communications/impact reports to members and managing logistics for a calendar of member events.
To successfully steward ongoing relationships with a small portfolio of existing major donors, including providing impact reports for previous funding or leading tours of our research facilities or services, as applicable
To work closely with colleagues in Finance to ensure all income from these sources is dealt with efficiently and effectively and in the most appropriate manner.
To take responsibility for ensuring that all relationships with high net worth individuals achieve their maximum potential and that the charity delivers on all its commitments to funders.

The Candidate:
Experience of high value fundraising and relationship management including proven success in securing five and six figure gifts.
Proven demonstrable experience in face to face fundraising.
Proven experience of identifying, cultivating and recruiting new supporters.
Experience of undertaking projects independently and seeing projects through to completion
A demonstrable understanding of gift aid rules and application.
Experience of word processing, spreadsheet and database packages as well as familiarity with the use of the internet and intranet systems.
