Job description

We are looking for someone to manage and develop our sponsorship programme that provides education to Tibetan children, brings comfort and security to Tibetan elders and helps Tibetan nuns and monks continue practicing Tibetan Buddhism. Are you that person?

The ability to be organised and prioritise are key attributes for successful management of the programme. You will also need to be self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously for a lot of your time, corresponding with staff based in our partner organisations in India and Nepal as well as talking to our sponsors.

Being personable and able to communicate effectively across multinational teams is vital, as you will be consistently following up a wide-range of queries at any one time. Attention to detail is also essential along with the ability to streamline procedures as you will be dealing with large amounts of information, data and administrative processes.

About the charity

Founded in 1959, Tibet Relief Fund is a well-established vibrant charity that, through innovative grass roots work and long-term projects, provides vital access to healthcare, education and other basic needs. We also respond to emergencies and promote self-sufficiency in Tibetan communities to help build positive futures from within. Our sponsorship programme is one way we do this.

About the programme

Our sponsorship programme began supporting a handful of children in the 1960’s. It has grown and expanded over the years and has provided a helping hand for thousands of Tibetans living across India and Nepal. Our sponsors have given Tibetan children, elders, Buddhist monks and nuns access to vital and transformative education, training and care.

Today we partner with ten Tibetan led organisations in India and Nepal and currently have over 500 sponsors and 650 sponsored individuals.

About fundraising and development of the programme

You will be joining a small energetic fundraising team who are working to increase our income streams. Over the next few years we are looking to build our current sponsorship programme and expand its scope; you will be a key part of this growth. You will bring creative ideas to make best use of digital media and other means to bring our programme to a wider audience.

Please send your CV along with a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4 that demonstrates why you want to join us.

Closing date for applicants is midnight Wednesday 29 August. Interviews to be conducted at our offices week on Tuesday 4 September.
