Liaison and Diversion Senior Social Worker
starting at £35,745 pa, NJC Scale Points 32 – 35
Hours: 37 hours per week
This role will be based at Huddersfield Police Station

Any job offer will be dependent on the outcome of police vetting at level 3, and reference checks.

The West Yorkshire Liaison and Diversion Service works with people of all ages (including children and young people) with a wide range of vulnerabilities including mental health issues and learning disabilities, who have offended or are at risk of offending. We support service users who have contact with police stations, the courts, prisons and probation. Funded by NHS England, we have 6 teams, based at or near the Wakefield, Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees and Bradford Police District Headquarters. The service also covers Leeds and Bradford Magistrates and Crown Courts and Kirklees Court.

The Liaison and Diversion service is a multi-agency, multi skilled team, delivered by a consortium led by Wakefield Council, of which Touchstone is a key partner, across the West Yorkshire police force area. The aim is to work together to reduce the risk factors for reoffending by providing short-term support and signposting service users into longer-term support services.

A need has arisen within the Kirklees team for a Senior Social Worker. As a Senior Social worker within the Liaison and Diversion service, you will work with people of all ages with a range of mental health issues, learning disabilities, substance misuse and social vulnerabilities – with the aim of reducing health inequalities, which in turn contribute to reducing reoffending and helping to improve decision making within the criminal justice system.

Closing Date: 19 September 2021
Interviews will be held on: 29 September and 1 October 2021
