Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership are looking for a Transitions Manager to help young people make a successful transition from primary to secondary school so they can Learn More, Do More and Become More.
For nearly 30 years Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership has helped young people who face barriers to success by giving them the skills, knowledge and networks they need to succeed in the world of work in the future.
We are based in the lively Liverpool Street/Aldgate East area. We work with local students in the borough of Tower Hamlets and beyond, helping them to overcome the intergenerational unemployment and low social mobility that they can face. Our projects, supported by volunteers from the business community, tackle these issues directly.

Tower Hamlets EBP are looking to recruit a Transitions Manager to lead an established programme supporting young people’s transition from primary to secondary school. The project is funded by the Morgan Stanley International Foundation and will involve working with their employees based in Canary Wharf.
Working with two secondary schools and their key feeder primaries in Tower Hamlets, the role involves:
- Fostering relationships with parents and school staff to encourage a supportive environment, enabling parents to be more engaged with their child’s education and well-being.
- Delivery of Transition workshops in primary schools.
- Delivery of a 3-day Transition Summer School.
- Managing and facilitating lunchtime and after-school social sessions in schools.
- Managing a Peer Mentoring programme at the secondary school.
- Assisting business volunteers to support the programme.
- Progress monitoring.
- Standard 34 hour working week

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Educated to degree level.
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a teacher, youth worker or trainer delivery role, working with children or young adults.
- Experience of designing and delivering workshops.
- Experience of managing a project or programme with multiple stakeholders.
- IT literate with experience of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Understanding/knowledge of databases and how they can be utilised. Good understanding of social media channels e.g. Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Thorough understanding of child safeguarding legislation and issues.
- An understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities.
- An enhanced DBS clearance is essential. This can be undertaken as soon as the person is in post.
- Hold a relevant professional qualification in education, youth or social work and/or have extensive experience of working to support young people gained within the voluntary, education or social care sector.
- Familiar with education and have knowledge of business education activity and or/employability skills agenda.
- Experience of working with volunteers and knowledge of volunteering good practice.
- Experience of working with families, community organisations or children’s services.
- Awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility and employee volunteering.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and managing a project or programme with multiple stakeholders.
- Awareness and knowledge of issues facing young people and specific demographic groups (e.g., the underperformance of White British children).
This is a fixed term 12-month contract, with possible extension based on performance and funding.
