We are delighted to be partnering with Maytree, a respite centre, and a unique national charity, for people who are feeling suicidal. With a House in north London, and a new House opening in Manchester in 2022, Maytree offers anyone who feels they need a calm, confidential, supportive place to spend time, a place of safety where they will be listened to and gently encouraged to talk through their thoughts and feelings. Guests aren't judged, diagnosed or rather they are heard with compassion and without judgement.
With the second House opening in Manchester in Spring 2022 - doubling capacity and offering more options for access to locations outside London - this is an exciting time to be joining Maytree.
The CEO will provide strategic leadership and management to a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers and paid staff, ensuring that volunteers remain central in providing Maytree's service. The CEO will hold responsibility for ensuring the continued delivery of a high-quality Guest focused service - across both sites.
Maytree gets feedback from Guests, and from those who contact it for more information. A few weeks after a stay at the House Guests report real benefit from their stay, a reduction in suicidal feeling and a reduction in their distress. Maytree would like to extend this evaluation of our impact over time and would want the CEO to have some familiarity with evaluation and impact reporting. In conjunction with the Board, The CEO will lead on establishing Maytree as a unified, two-location national charity, and will play a lead role in shaping the vision and strategy for the charity as it continues to grow. Building a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive organisational culture will be a key pillar of the new CEO's work.
The CEO will bring senior leadership and management experience of strategic development/business planning in the not-for-profit sector. This will include experience of both mental health and volunteer-based services. With a strength in leading multi-functional teams through change - especially in respect of service delivery - the next CEO will also bring first class communication skills, a track record in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Experience of working with fundraising teams to design and implement successful fundraising plans will also be important.
