Job Description

A well-known mental health charity is looking for an experienced PR & Communications Officer to join their team.

You will be a positive self-starter who is open and communicative and keen to help others achieve their objectives.

You will report into the Senior Communications & Engagement Manager and work closely with both the Fundraising and the Communications Departments, as well as across the organisation to raise the organisation's profile in the regional and national print, broadcast and online media.

You will particularly work closely with the other PR & Comms Officer to ensure an integrated approach to communications and engagement.

As the PR & Comms Officer you will be the first line response for media enquiries and dealing with journalists. You will write media releases, statements and news articles for several different platforms, as well as set up media interviews, photo calls and assist with visits and public events.

In addition, you will research opportunities and pitch stories to be covered in the media.

The appointed candidate will have:


  • Experience of writing press releases, case studies, media statements, news articles and blogs.

  • Experience of preparing and briefing spokespeople for media interviews.

  • Experience of general communications areas such as PR, media, advertising, marketing and social media.

  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills as well as great written and oral communication skills.
