Job description

Brexit means that the UK is adopting an independent trade policy for the first time in 50 years. This is an exciting time to help shape the UK’s approach to international trade, and ensure that it leads to positive outcomes for people and the planet.

The Senior Political Advisor’s role is to lead TJM’s political advocacy, provide policy research and manage relationships with Parliament and the civil service. This includes providing the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trade Justice. The post-holder will also manage internal communications, including with other civil society groups, to identify areas of shared interest and develop parliamentary advocacy strategies.

The Senior Political Advisor will work as part of TJM’s small team to contribute to the development of strategy and funding bids, administration and media communications as appropriate. The role includes representing TJM to external organisations, including think tanks, the civil service and other civil society groups.

Working as part of a small team, the postholder will need both a strong ability to manage their time and work plan, and to work closely with TJM’s network of members to support joint strategy and advocacy.
