We’re looking for an experienced trainer to lead on the implementation and delivery of the Learning and Development framework issued by the House of Bishops.
- Be responsible for the organisation, implementation and delivery of the national safeguarding learning and development framework
- Provide high quality face to face and online training to office holders (Clergy, Readers, those with Permission to Officiate), employees and volunteers in the Diocese of Coventry.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the national training and adapt materials as appropriate for the diocese.
- Network and liaise with safeguarding trainers from other dioceses and be part of the regional and national training network to share knowledge and best practice.
- Assist in supporting a small team of volunteer trainers capable of delivering training within the Diocese of Coventry.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for safeguarding training administration
- In conjunction with the DSA, undertake continual evaluation, review and monitoring of the learning and development framework and other training materials so that they are kept up-to-date with new legislation, guidelines and best practice in safeguarding.
- Be responsible for safeguarding training information on different platforms
- In liaison with the DSA/ADSA, respond to and act upon requests for advice, information and guidance from individuals in the church who are concerned about the welfare of a child or adult at risk of harm.
- To undertake any other activity within the scope of the safeguarding team’s work, and the role-holder’s skills and experience, as reasonably requested by the DSA.
The post holder is an employee of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) and is line managed by the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor.
Other key relationships include the Diocesan Safeguarding team, Parish Safeguarding Officers, Clergy and Readers.
An enhanced DBS check will be required.

Your role
As Assistant Shop Manager at Scope's Wakefield shop, you’ll work alongside the Shop Manager, and use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. About the role
In this role, you will offer clinical supervision to the Macmillan Support Line teams including advisers, nurses, line managers, service knowledge specialists and other groups and individuals as needed. As part of their continuing professional development, you will enable colleagues to reflect on their practice in supporting people affected by cancer while maintaining their own wellbeing.
You will be part of a team of 3 part-time clinical supervisors and will be given opportunities to feedback on recurrent themes to the organisation. You will learn about organisational wellbeing and be a key part of a team capable of working in an emotionally challenging, fast paced, live contact centre environment.
You will be running regular small group supervision sessions (approximately 3 per day) for 1hr 15’ each, managing a caseload of approximately 25 groups monthly. You will also offer individual supervision where needed.
About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- You must hold one of the following qualifications: Clinical Supervision Level 6 or above; accredited Counsellor or Psychotherapist (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, Health Professionals Council)
- Your experience of delivering both 1-1 and group supervision virtually will be essential
- Experience of delivering supervision to colleagues who provide a live, frontline, fast paced health related service is desirable

In support of our national vision and strategy, the Church of England has a small central Leadership Development Team (LDT) currently comprising of seven staff posts. Through this team we invest significantly in the learning and development of senior leaders and the development of a diverse range of potential future leaders. - As the team leader, nurture a flourishing Leadership Development Team in which the gifts of all team members can be developed and deployed in support of the work entrusted to the team.
- To oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of induction programmes for Bishops, Deans and Archdeacons so that those newly appointed to these roles can quickly establish firm foundations for fruitful ministry.
- To lead the continuing evolution of a compelling national learning and development programme linked to the Church's formational frameworks that forms and equips Bishops, Deans and Archdeacons so that they can flourish as they lead the Church in mission within their roles.
- To oversee the shaping, implementation and evolution of the Strategic Leadership Development Programme for those identified as having potential for future wider responsibility.
- To oversee the optimal deployment of coaches and other supportive interventions for senior clergy.
- Subject to available funding, lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of new programmes to form and equip other frontline leaders (e.g. Diocesan Secretaries and incumbent-level clergy) so that they can flourish as they also lead the Church in mission in their roles.
- To oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a periodic development review process that facilitates the continued holistic formation of Bishops and to explore opportunities for an equivalent process for Deans.
- To create and sustain an appetite for organisational learning and development through the provision of high-quality learning and other interventions.
- To contribute to the delivery of programmes on a regular basis.
- Integration of the riches of the Christian tradition with the best of wider leadership development thinking and practice.
- Ongoing development of the new 'Learning Practicum' virtual learning system.
- Developing partnerships with theologians, TEIs, business schools and other leadership development providers and coaches.

About Unlocked
Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending, with particular focus on breaking the link between disadvantage and reoffending. Currently prison is not a place which successfully does this: the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions and 48 percent of prisoners reoffend within a year of release. This is a phenomenally interesting role as it offers the opportunity to radically reimagine what incredible training can look like for a singularly powerful role: the prison officer is the only professional who reaches every single prisoner including the most vulnerable and challenging. For this reason, at the heart of Unlocked is a highly effective training provision developing the leaders our prison service needs. It is this area that you will be responsible for.

We’re looking for a Head of Curriculum with a deep passion for best practice pedagogy, curriculum and assessment to help us continue to develop our participants into transformative prison officers and extraordinary future leaders. You will use your deep understanding of pedagogical theory and an uncompromising enthusiasm for how people learn to oversee an entire two-year programme of study, from initial residential training all the way through to ongoing professional development.
Our team has worked hard to craft an outstanding training programme for our participants. Our practice-based curriculum and pedagogy is built on the work of Doug Lemov, and the knowledge aspects of the curriculum are embedded in theories of explicit teaching rather than discovery learning for novice practitioners, as per the work of E.D. You don’t need to have experience working as a consultant before. But we need you to be curious, analytical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Relationship management [20%]
- Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees

- Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies
