Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn and a dedicated site in Darwen, open to young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area. Our vision is to be at the heart of the community, collaborating to create a more cohesive and prosperous Blackburn and Darwen.

We are one of the leading youth organisations in Blackburn, with a membership of over 5000 young people. We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of a year and offer over 40 different activities and opportunities in our open-access youth club.

Context of Role:

Our Head of Young People's Services is a critical, strategic and operational role within Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone. As a supporting member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will work closely with the Director of Operations, CEO and the Director of Finance to ensure the charity delivers its vision and strategic objectives. This includes strategies for sustaining and overseeing the ongoing transformation of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zones' operational business plan and its operational processes and infrastructure. Your leadership skills will play a crucial role (in conjunction with the leadership team) in establishing a platform and environment for growth by creating a best-in-class, people-first, employee-of-choice that changes the prospect of local children and young people (aged 5 to 25 years). You must be abreast of new opportunities (sourced independently and through your colleagues) and advise the leadership team and board on all Universal and Targeted Service operational matters, including its performance, risk, forecast/trajectories, and the general state of play. 

You will need to show exceptional skills and the ability to meet KPI’s relating to (but, not limited to) leadership skills, the ability to design and deliver organisational operational plans, risk management, departmental budget management, stakeholder relations and organisational safeguarding responsibility.

As an EPRM you will be a key contributor to the regional strategy working very much in a one team environment whilst giving you the space to grow and develop your skills. Your role as EPRM will see you work directly with young people and teachers in schools that take part in Young Enterprise programmes such as company programme, day programmes and digital programmes. You will also oversee regional relationships, at local authority level or equivalent.

The EPRM role involves being flexible to the needs of the region and your team and to provide regional leadership. Some of the duties include, which is not an exhaustive list

• Deliver and or support the delivery of Young Enterprise programmes and services in schools, colleges, universities, and youth centres
• Work as part of the regional team to proactively identify and generate sources of local income to support YE programmes.
• Manage and monitor KPIs and local contracts associated with the above tasks through the regional operations plan set out by the Regional Manager.
• Work with the local YE Volunteer Team (LVT), providing support, direction and opportunities to engage with local activity, which may include fundraising, volunteering on programmes and / or promoting our programmes to new school
• Work closely with Programmes & Services team to support the development and delivery of our full suite of programmes, while also developing your own knowledge and understanding of our full suite of programmes and services to promote to schools.

We’re the Portman Group, the UK’s self-regulatory body for alcohol marketing and we are looking for someone to provide advice and training to the alcohol industry on our marketing rules.  We have two Codes of Practice: the Naming, Packaging and Promotion of Alcoholic Drinks and the Alcohol Sponsorship Code.  Each Code outlines a set of responsible marketing rules that the alcohol industry must abide by.  Our primary purpose as a regulator is to protect those who are vulnerable, particularly those who are under-18.

No previous experience of working in the alcohol industry or marketing regulation is necessary as full training will be provided.

Details of role

· Deliver training and briefing sessions on the Codes and on alcohol social responsibility. This includes delivering sessions virtually and in person within the UK.

· Responsible for responding accurately and promptly to written requests for advice on product marketing from producers and their agencies alongside other members of the Regulatory Affairs Team.

· To raise standards of responsibility in the industry by undertaking proactive trademark searches of newly registered products and providing unsolicited advice where necessary.

· With the support of the team, provide internal and external reporting analysis of advice requests on a monthly basis.

· Monitor product innovations via social media and press publications to identify emerging trends and provide unsolicited advice where necessary.

· Support the team in drafting blogs, newsletters, industry advice pieces and an annual Regulatory Affairs Report.

· Support the team in wider regulatory communications, including distribution of content.

· To support the Regulatory Affairs team more widely by:

o Attending industry events;

o Assisting with the recruitment of new Code Signatories;

o Providing project support as required.

· To be flexibly deployed on any other work as required by the Director of Regulatory Affairs or Chief Executive, taking into account the needs of a small organisation.

Snow Camp is a ground-breaking national youth charity, and we are looking to recruit a fantastic new North West Wellbeing Manager and Programme Support to join our North West team on a 4 day a week contract (30 hrs).

Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people, taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

You will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports and will be responsible for the delivery of our wellbeing workshops and providing 1to1 wellbeing support sessions to young people. You will also work as part of the North West team to assist with the planning and delivery of snowsports and life-skills focused youth activities run by the Programme Manager and assist with the apprenticeship programme throughout each year.

Experience of working successfully with under-served young people in a range of settings, with a focus on supporting young people’s wellbeing will be essential to the post. Passion for snowsports and supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!

Youth work, wellbeing support experience, project management, logistical skills, managing relationships, communication and presentation skills will make up the role. Along with experience of delivering group workshops to help young people work towards meaningful goals to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Job Description

• You will spend roughly 2.5 days will be in the Wellbeing Manager role and 1.5 days will be in the Programme Support role each week.
• In consultation with the Programme Manager, to manage the delivery of the Wellbeing Workshops and 1to1 mentoring support needed for young people and apprentices.
• Work with the programme manager to gain the young people’s trust and confidence.
• To assist with delivery and development of The North West’s full snowsports focused journey of youth programmes which take place at Chill Factore.
• Build a good relationship with the North West Programme Manager to help provide support and guidance to young people.
• Support with the management of (currently) 3 x North West apprentices on their 1-year Snow Camp Apprenticeship programme. particularly helping to manage their wellbeing and signpost to other services where needed.
• Ensuring the apprentices have clear personal development plans and objectives.
• Provide effective and inspiring leadership to apprentices and young people.
• Providing weekly 1to1 support sessions for each apprentice.
• Having an understanding and an involvement in the development of their weekly working rotas.
• Supporting with NVQ work & assisting with any challenges that may be faced.
• Ensuring apprentices are involved and supported working on all Snow Camp programmes as the North West staff team.
• Complete Personal Development Plans and Wellbeing Assessments as required with apprentices.
• Attend regular meetings with the other regional Wellbeing Managers to provide a consistent approach and building resources focused on improving young people’s wellbeing.
• Outside of programme days, provide one-to-one mentoring sessions to young people, in-person or remotely, focusing on their well-being and offering support so they can cope with the Snow Camp programme and improve their general wellbeing.
• Be a key team member on the overseas residential for the Excel programme during the Easter holidays. *Valid passport for travel in Europe & Andorra required.
• Use our UPSHOT online database system to keep records and ensure all monitoring and evaluation is carried out.
• Attend external training as required (e.g. Safeguarding and Mental Health Awareness tutor training courses).
• Ensure that all activities and provision you deliver is done safely and in line with organisational policies.
• Support the Programme Manager to ensure all programmes run smoothly and effectively by supporting the delivery of each programme – managing venue instructors, guest speakers, apprentices, youth staff, sessional staff and volunteers as required.
• Support the Programme Manager with recruiting young people for each programme through visits to youth projects, promotion through email to all relevant youth programmes and services and presenting at key stakeholder meetings on youth service provision. Finding new young people in the North West area to support by Snow-Camp will be key.
• Support the Programme Manager with programme administration including finances, SLAs, attendance records, risk assessments, bookings and young people’s records on Upshot.
• Support with management and delivery of trips and overseas residential’s (Snow-Camp Excel, Apprenticeship & Youth Forum Residential’s) as part of Snow-Camp programmes. Including support with all the necessary risk assessments.
• Additional tasks may vary depending on different opportunities throughout the year.

Management and support

The North West Wellbeing Manager & Programme Support will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports Morv Bett who will provide support and guidance.

The Trustee board will determine the overall direction of Snow Camp and will set the overall priorities in consultation with the Director and Senior Team.

Training and Education Lead

Position: Training and Education Lead: Parental Cover (8 months)

About the role:

This role is for an events person who can support our training and development courses. These courses are delivered either face-to-face or hybrid and are often delivered by a team of the organisation’s members. We use tools such as WebEx, MS Teams and Slido to support the delivery. There is an agreed schedule for the rest of 2024 for our public (open) training plus some bespoke, in-house training to be agreed upon with clients. There will also be additional in-house training to be secured for the remainder of 2024 and the first part of 2025.

The role holder will work within our professional development team, headed up by the director of professional development. They will report directly to the director and work alongside other team members to deliver an effective apprenticeship programme.

Our working pattern is hybrid, with attendance in the office expected for three days per week, including every Wednesday. You may also be expected to attend events across the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to meet the agreed requirements and budget, liaising with the DPD as required.
• Organise and attend volunteer Working Party meetings as required.
• Working with the volunteers, external suppliers and DPD, ensure all requirements are clearly defined, appropriate and in place for the course to be delivered.
• Liaise with suppliers and contributors to deliver and sign off the online activity.
• Work with the DPD and others to identify potential speakers.
• Support the DPD to negotiate and agree contracts with speakers.
• Work with clients and speakers to agree on delivery dates.
• Process bookings via iMIS, including sending confirmations to delegates.
• Respond to queries from potential delegates and their employers.
• Support current delegates with queries on their programme and progress.
• Work with the DPD and Financial Controller to put together the draft budget for specific events, bursary scheme, or online development activities.
• Supply up-to-date information on the bursary holder’s progress and course uptake to inform budgetary, marketing, and other management decisions.

To be successful in this role, you will need experience managing events (face to face and hybrid) including liaising with speakers and managing the technology. You will be able to work with colleagues to identify and contact potential speakers. You will also be able to manage the budget for the course delivery. To be successful at the organisation, you will need to be able to work in a small team, be flexible in accommodating changing priorities and thrive in an ever-changing environment.

You will also bring with you the following skills and experience:

• A qualification or experience in event management including online and bespoke courses.

Post Title Progression Worker 

Responsible to Director of Services (subject to review) 

Purpose of Post To support users of services through an education, training, and employability programme integrated with SCT’s wider services and enterprise offer, as well as partner opportunities in the wider community. To oversee and coordinate access to SCT’s Training and Development tutor-led activities including art, creative writing, digital skills, gardening, literacy, woodwork, and peer-led ‘Choices’ groups, and to monitor people’s progress over time.

Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is an East London charity embedded in the local community, providing practical support and training to people affected by homelessness and addictions so they can rebuild their lives. We have a Recovery Hub in Shoreditch, where we run an abstinence-based residential recovery service (‘Acorn House’), and a Training and Development service, including tutor-led art, creative writing, digital skills, gardening, literacy, and woodwork. In addition, we run Housing First and Supported Housing services, both in East London. We are dedicated to supporting those who access our Training and Development service to explore further Education, Training, and Employment (ETE) opportunities as part of SCT’s Progressions Programme, both within and outside of SCT. This includes those in early recovery who are resident in our abstinent-based recovery service (‘Acorn House’), as well as those in our move-on house and the wider community who may be more established in their recovery. SCT’s Progression Worker supports those accessing our services to explore ETE opportunities, offering tailored, individually specific support to help them reach their full potential. SCT’s Progression Programme is centred on empowering people in recovery to cultivate confidence and realise their potential. 

SCT Progressions Programme 

1. Identifying SCT residents and students ready to pursue ETE opportunities: 

• Collaborate with SCT tutors and managers, particularly the Therapeutic Programme Manager and Supported Housing Manager, to identify those who may benefit from the support on offer. 

• Cultivate strong relationships with SCT’s social enterprises and shops to establish clear pathways for volunteering and trainee opportunities for those who access our services. 

• Conduct assessments, develop and implement individualised Progression Plans, and evaluate progress according to each person’s needs, strengths and aspirations, involving key internal and external partners as appropriate. 

1. Providing information, advice, and guidance regarding ETE opportunities: 

• Offer information, initial advice, and guidance on employment, voluntary work, and further education opportunities. 

• Promote SCT's work to external partners to maximise ETE opportunities for those who access our services.

About the role

We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. A new training contract with the Department for Education will support this outcome. 

This role is pivotal in supporting kinship carers to understand what being a kinship carer actually means, what choices are available to them and how to access the information and advice they need for their kinship families in England. 

You’ll facilitate our online introductory training workshops for kinship carers, alongside a kinship experienced colleague. 

You’ll join a new team – Advice, Training and Information who will be resolute about creating a positive and impactful learning experience for all kinship carers in England. 

A strong facilitator and communicator, you will need to be (or become) a Zoom whizz, confident in using breakout rooms and all the extras, calm under pressure (sometimes technology lets us down) and able to deliver exceptional online workshops and training to small and large audiences. We’ll also ask you to support one-off in person training occasionally. 

Being interactive, engaging and able to read the ‘online’ room are essentials for this role. You’ll be curious – and always thinking about how you can improve your delivery and the experience for kinship carers. We’re building a team who is open, focused on the needs of kinship carers and who are looking to continuously and positively improve. 

As part of this new training service, you’ll receive all the training and development to support you to succeed in this role. This may include overnight stays as part of induction and training.

Key Tasks

Supporting the Education Manager to ensure the smooth delivery of the King’s Foundation’s education strategy and core TMOC programmes by:

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Every day millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, and none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us - we will all need social care at some point in our lives.

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account, but most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 92% drop in legal aid cases since 2010 means that we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.   

What we do 

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.

With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers provide access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded and we all get the support we need.   

We provide rights awareness training to front line managers, and legal advice and support to families and individuals. As well as providing access to justice, our aim is to drive system level change through evidence-led influencing and strategic casework. We operate our casework service mainly under a membership model where organisations involved in the social care sector contract with Access Social Care to provide legal assistance to their clients.

This is an exciting time to join ASC. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly. About the role

As we move into 2024, Access Social Care is launching a new workstream aimed at training more experts in community care law. To achieve our aims, we will be developing learning and development programmes for internal and external use. We are looking for an experienced learning and development professional to lead this programme of work.

 We want you to:

• Oversee the development and delivery online and in person training on the Care Act 2014 and associated legislation, regulations, guidance and caselaw.  We already have some training materials in-house, but you will need to expand and develop these for different audiences (carers, social care providers, advocates, advisers and caseworkers).
• Work with external stakeholders at academic institutions to develop degree/diploma level learning modules.
• Work closely with others at ASC and play a key role in developing the skills and knowledge of our trainee caseworkers and other new staff.
• Work alongside the Head of Business Development to develop a learning and development income stream.

Responsibilities

1. Project management of the Access Social Care learning and development offer: Working with internal and external stakeholders and using project management tools and software you will drive the project forwards ensuring milestones and deadlines are met, delivering reports 

2. Content and resources development: Work closely with our Head of Digital Content, Product Manager and legal team members to develop training materials for use online and in person on the Care Act which enable people with different starting points to understand the rights of social care users, to enforce those rights, and to understand the responsibilities of social care providers and local authorities.

3. External training strategy development. Work with the Head of Business development to develop an income stream from learning and development.

4. Training delivery: Deliver training internally and externally, online and in person, using a variety of training techniques, and tailored materials to engage different audiences with different immediate purposes.

5. Intelligence gathering: Contribute to our understanding of systemic problems in the social care and community care law systems, feeding back to legal colleagues' issues that are brought up in training session.

6. General tasks: Undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be required or asked of you in order to respond to organisational needs and specifically needs within the legal team.

You’ll need to calm under pressure and able to deliver exceptional in person workshops and training to small and large audiences. 

Being interactive, engaging and able to read the room are essentials for this role. You’ll be curious – and always thinking about how you can improve your delivery and the experience for kinship carers. We’re building a team who is open, focussed on the needs of kinship carers and who are looking to continuously and positively improve. 

As part of this new training service, you’ll receive all the training and development to support you to succeed in this role. This may include overnight stays as part of induction and training. This is a role that will need to travel and we’re happy to discuss how this could work best if you have kinship caring responsibilities. You will not be responsible for logistics. 

What you’ll need to achieve in this role: 

• Co-delivering exceptional in person introductory roadshows to kinship carers in England (16 over a 12-month period) as part of a delivery team. 

• Leading exceptional in person introductory workshops to peer support groups in England (individual target - 20-30 over a 12-month period). 

• An in-depth understanding of kinship care in England (we’ll provide training and support). 

• Consistent approach across training experiences, following manualisation processes. 

• Effectively facilitating roundtable discussions (as part of the roadshow format). 

• Supporting consultation events with kinship carers to support co-design of the service. 

• Ensuring KPIs for service delivery (including feedback and evaluation) are met including kinship carer experiences (90% service user satisfaction). 

• Ongoing continuous development of training resources and delivery using insight, data and participation from kinship carers. 

• Ensuring training is accessible and adapted as required. 

• Be comfortable being a ‘face’ for the service in promotion, in person and for online resources. 

• Take part in creating online content, including being confident in front of the camera to produce video and verbal content to add to our online resources, advice and guidance. 

• Contribute to online resources as required. 

• Take accountability for using Salesforce effectively as our case management system to support service delivery learning, high performance and evaluation. Ensure excellent administration in your delivery, keeping to deadlines. 

• Work closely with Advice Service, Peer Support Service and Programmes teams to create onward referral pathways. 

• Work with local authority partners to create regional content for in person introductory training workshops at peer support groups. 

• Ensure tone of voice, language and brand are in line with Kinship guidelines. Contribute positive active learning and proactively create opportunities to understand kinship carers needs for training (using learning logs). 

• Contribute to case studies demonstrating impact of training service alongside ongoing insight to influence policy and campaigning development. 

• Actively contribute to a delivering high performance across the team. Commitment to personal development.

What you’ll bring (your experience): 

Essential experience, skills and abilities: 

• Substantial experience delivering engaging in-person training and workshops for diverse audiences, or transferable skills which demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• High quality and professional in-person facilitation skills, or transferable skills which demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills. 

• Demonstrable experience of holding clear boundaries and managing unforeseen circumstances (like disruptive behaviour) within training contexts, or transferable skills which demonstrate your ability to manage boundaries and unforeseen circumstances in a professional context. 

• Proven experience of delivering training workshops which deliver impact and learning outcomes for participants, or transferable skills which demonstrate your ability to deliver positive outcomes in a professional context. 

• Excellent Powerpoint skills. 

• Experience of working with communities with different levels of digital literacy. Ability to develop in-depth subject knowledge (kinship care for example) to deliver consistent and up to date content. 

• Excellent written, verbal and visual communications with high attention to detail, representing Kinship and this new training service with conviction and professionalism. 

• High degree of confidence using technology, or willingness to develop and take accountability for using technology. 

• Willingness to think outside of the box and ability to work with others to work in non-traditional ways to achieve change for kinship carers and their families. 

• A positive, can-do, solutions driven attitude that helps contribute to a clear learning culture for the team.
