Transitions UK is an exciting and growing charity, working across Herts, Beds, Bucks, N London, Leicester and S. Birmingham, specifically set up to address the needs of a “lost generation” of 15-25 year olds. We work with young people with learning disabilities, mental health & emotional issues, young people leaving care and those at risk of exploitation/offending.
Hub Co-ordinator - ASPIRE Buckinghamshire - supporting young people at risk of offending/exploitation
£21,450 pro rata, plus matched pension
Part-time: 20-25 hrs per week.
You will further develop and drive forward this exciting and innovative community-based project, part-funded by The National Lottery and already running for three years, including spearheading its further development in Buckinghamshire. You will have primary responsibility, supported by our FT Project Manager, to provide a mentoring and befriending service to 20 young people aged 13-21 years who are at risk of criminal exploitation or offending.
The project is also running in Watford and Hemel Hempstead, in S Bucks and in N London, and aims to further expand. Across the Aspire project, we run “Prevent” for 20-22 13-17 yr olds and “Restart” for 5-8 18-21 yr olds. You will also recruit and deploy 30+ volunteers as mentors, both younger and older adults.
You are an excellent organiser, team-leader and communicator with a hands-on approach. From experience, you are able to work sensitively and effectively with young people who have personal challenges and need support - so you will provide a quality response to the challenge further developing this project. You will be well supported by an experienced high quality team with personal support from your Project Manager.
You will be excited by the opportunities in this role and in our growing charity, and determined to achieve excellent results for the young people we support.
