Job Description

Youth Advocacy Manager

UK Youth provides young people aged 8-25 with high quality services, delivered through a network of 3,536 local youth organisations across the UK. Together we offer support, advice and training to over 1.5 million young people to equip them with skills for the future and help them engage in education, volunteering and employment.

About the role
Involving young people in the design and delivery of UK Youth’s activities and empowering them to become active citizens and create positive change is embedded throughout our work. This is an exciting time to join the Engagement and Advocacy team at UK Youth as we have recently launched a new movement to #StandWithYouth to ensure that all young people have access to high quality services in their community and ensuring young people’s voices are at the heart of that is essential.

It is a great opportunity for someone with first rate youth work and advocacy experience who’s passionate about changing the outcomes for young people and ensuring they are at the centre of decision-making processes. It offers the chance to play a leading role in supporting young people to influence national policy and secure UK Youth as a key voice, partner and influencer.

You will be responsible for managing a range of projects and workstreams to enable young people from youth organisations across the UK Youth Movement to express their views and have them listened to. You will build effective ways of leading and representing youth organisations who are part of our movement and embed effective approaches to ensure there are opportunities for the young people they work with to get their voices heard.

Why work at UK Youth?

We are a passionate and committed team and can provide a friendly working environment with lots of opportunities to socialise with colleagues through activities such as office yoga, lunch n learn sessions and potluck lunches; as well as out of work social events with recent outings including bowling, tennis and karaoke.

The office space will have lots of natural light throughout, a staffed reception, showers and cycle storage with breakout and communal spaces.

We offer a salary of between £30,000- £35,000. Additional benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme (currently UK Youth match employee contributions up to 5%), a life insurance scheme which would pay out up to 4 times your salary and additional staff benefits including an Employee Assistance programme to support employees both professionally and personally. We are committed to investing in the personal and professional development of everyone at UK Youth.
