Job description

About the role:

The Academic Engagement, Student Voice and Equality Team are a pivotal part uea(su)! You will be joining a strong team full of expertise and drive that helps improve the student experience. Our Student Voice and Communities Coordinator for UEA’s Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FMH) will work with students and staff in the School and across UEA, to make sure that students studying non-medical health programmes are having the best experience possible.

This includes: providing support for academic representation; working closely with FMH student societies to develop events and activities. Alongside this you will be promoting equality, diversity and engaging students from under-represented backgrounds; and working with the school to implement change through student feedback.’

Please note that this role is initially for a fixed term period of 12 months.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

Academic Experience  

Support the School of Health Sciences to develop an annual student experience plan, working with students and staff from the school to identify priorities, and implement improvements  

Maintain a strong and up-to-date working knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, and national and local issues relating to health sciences education  

Provide bespoke support for Course Reps and student leaders in the Faculty of Medical and Health working to develop their leadership and advocacy skills, and working with relevant staff and Officers across uea(su) to remove barriers to participation.  

Ensure that all Course Reps in the Faculty of Medicine and Health receive appropriate training and support to deal with students’ issues, and to prepare for SSLC (Student & Staff Liaison Committees) and other School or Faculty meetings  

HSC Student Opportunities  

Support Health Sciences student leaders to identify, promote, and deliver activities and events, including health-specific campaigns  

Develop and deliver welcome activities and social events for all HSC students on across all HSC programmes  

Develop and deliver induction and training sessions for members of Health Sciences academic societies  

Student Voice, Education and Equality  

To contribute and support team priorities and project work within the team 

Ensure agreed priorities in the area of liberation, equality and diversity are fully integrated into FMH student experience projects, and to actively identify and remove barriers to participation for students from liberation groups
