United Kingdom for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UK for UNHCR)
London, Greater London
Commensurate with the seniority of the appointment.
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

For a world where every person forced to flee can build a better future.

We are seeking a Chief Executive Officer, to lead the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s new national fundraising partner, UK for UNHCR. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO will lead the new charity’s strategic development and growth in the UK, raising private sector funds and developing partnerships to support UNHCR’s global humanitarian work for refugees and displaced people.

We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring leader for this newly created role to grow the income, voice and profile of UK for UNHCR. You will be a highly credible ambassador and partnership-builder, with excellent communications skills, able to leverage influence and funding.

UNHCR, also known as the UN Refugee Agency, has the primary goal of safeguarding the rights and well-being of refugees, and displaced and stateless people. UNHCR was established in 1950, in the aftermath of the Second World War to help millions of people who had fled their homes. Today, the organisation delivers humanitarian assistance in more than 130 countries as displacement reaches a record 70 million people worldwide. By supporting host countries, seeking resettlement options in third countries and helping refugees return home voluntarily when safe to do so, UNHCR also seeks lasting solutions to their plight.

The launch of UK for UNHCR reflects the growing role of private sector fundraising and partnerships in supporting UNHCR global humanitarian operations, which are responding to unprecedented levels of displacement. UK for UNHCR is a registered charity (England & Wales).
