£30,321 per annum (pro rata)

Part (3 days per week)

Location: Remote or Croydon based.

Is this you?

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Press and Media Officer to proactively drive up press coverage at United Response and help develop its reputation, nationally and locally, as both a provider of quality support and a prominent voice on critical social care issues.

The successful candidate will be a first-class writer with a strong news sense, able to self-generate and place news across broadcast, print and online media. You will be adept at delivering integrated press and social media projects, demonstrating a commitment to a multimedia approach to your work.

We’re looking for a true self-starter who can make things happen, is well organised and is passionate about developing in their career.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Securing a regular stream of positive and meaningful press coverage in regional and trade media, across print, broadcast and online titles
  • Working with staff and departments across United Response services to creatively identify, shape and pitch news to target outlets
  • Being a key point of contact for media enquiries from journalists and staff
  • Responding to media requests by setting up interviews, providing case studies or writing quotes in support of United Response’s wider campaigning or lobbying work
  • Leading on the delivery of Easy News, the charity’s flagship news magazine for people with learning disabilities
