The Vice-President External Engagement team (VPEE) coordinates UCL's engagement with a range of external and internal audiences, raising the university's profile and influence, and managing its reputation. They promote the public value of UCL's research and education, both within the UK, and globally. It is a service-driven team of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.
About the role
Our Institutional Events team deliver flagship events for UCL including open days, graduations, public lectures and high-level events for our influential stakeholders. Some of the biggest events on our programme such as our annual graduation ceremonies and open days have complex data flows and thousands of attendees, and we are recruiting a Data and Operations Manager to support the team to harness UCL's customer data systems to create simple customer journeys and help us deliver our events programme effectively, ensuring a positive attendee experience. Expert management of the data aspects of project delivery including flows between a range of internal UCL systems, and external suppliers is essential to this.
This role will utilise both technical data abilities and strong relationship management skills to unite our data sources and suppliers to deliver an outstanding experience for our event attendees. The successful candidate will lead on all data and system work in relation to graduation ceremonies and other key events and manage internal and external data flows, maintaining a single source of truth and guidance to manage the data for our graduation events.
Due to the nature of the responsibilities and timelines of this role it would be helpful for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.
About you
To excel in this role you will need an extensive background of managing data systems (CRM, event registration platforms, email marketing platform, etc.), a strong conceptual understanding of data management and excellent data extraction and manipulation skills, ideally with experience of using Oracle SQL. You will need previous experience in assessing requirements and designing appropriate data solutions and building accessible and dynamic reporting.
You are an excellent written and verbal communicator, are able to convey complex technical information to non-technical colleagues, and have excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills. You are flexible and adaptable, and are adept at learning how to use new systems and tools, and are able to see areas for improvement, and acting on these.
