Job description

It's a great time to join us. We're part-way through a journey towards being a more effective and more relevant students' union which truly represents and supports our hyper-diverse membership.

The marketing and communication manager will focus on developing our brand and increasing awareness and participation of our representation work, services and societies. There is a diverse and broad range of students at the University of East London from students joining straight after A-Levels to individuals who want to go back to university and learn something new to international students keen to join one of our postgraduate courses.

We are an independent organisation pushing the University to improve its academic provision and support services for students. Our challenge is conveying our role to students and encouraging more students to get involved in the Students’ Union.

You will also support our drive to generate commercial income through advertising, media sales and other avenues.

The candidate will be passionate about understanding our students and demonstrating this in our copy and marketing activities. You will work alongside the head of marketing and engagement and other colleagues to plan and implement new creative ideas to engage students, measure success and support a re-brand exercise. The candidate will adapt to a fast-paced environment, where we are starting from scratch. It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make their mark, but it is hard work. However, it is also rewarding!
