An outstanding opportunity currently exists for a major gift fundraising leader to join the University of Salford at an exciting time in our growth and development. The University has ambitious goals to transform the campus over the next 10 years by investing over £300 million in new campus facilities, creating an estate that is not only digitally enabled but also fit for the future. Our masterplan presents an opportunity for an institutional step change in how we approach philanthropy and the role it will play in realising our ambitions for the campus and beyond.

The role of the Strategic Development Manager is regarded as key to supporting our ambitions to shape a growing philanthropic programme in support of the University’s core strategic goals. The ideal candidate for this post will be an experienced and creative major gift fundraising professional and manager who will be able to work closely with the institution’s senior leadership, its staff and students, and with an aptitude for nurturing and building relationships with key stakeholders, as well as having the skills required to uncover and develop new funding opportunities.

The post requires energy, flair, creativity, very strong people and communications skills and a focus on delivering targets and results. Applicants should be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) and have relevant work experience in either Higher Education or charity sector major gift fundraising.
The role reports directly to the Head of Alumni Engagement and Development and is a member of the department’s management team, taking a lead role in the development and implementation of the University’s fundraising strategy.
