Are you a creative thinker with excellent persuasive written skills? Can you collate large amounts of information and craft a compelling case for support for funders? Are you a great relationship builder with an excellent track record of securing large-scale funds from grant givers?
We are seeking a highly innovative, pro-active, and diplomatic individual with a positive outlook. Results driven, you will significantly grow the number and level of philanthropic grants from major trusts and foundations (international and UK-based) to the University of Sheffield.
You will have excellent investigative and analytical skills to identify and prioritise projects around the University that are suitable for funding from trusts and foundations, and that support the University’s key strategic objectives. With exceptional written skills, and a high level of attention to detail, you will have the ability to assimilate academic and technical language and turn it into an articulate and compelling case for support, and the ability to write about subjects about which you may have no prior knowledge. You will also have strong interpersonal skills and a high level of self-confidence that will enable you to work with University colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including developing relationships with potential funders. You will be highly self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and with your own initiative, but also be able to work with colleagues in the office and around the University as part of a larger fundraising team.
Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, and working closely with the Director of Campaigns, you will be a member of the Major Gifts Team within the Campaigns & Alumni Relations Department and play a key role in delivering plans for the University of Sheffield’s first institutional campaign. You will manage and maintain your own portfolio of major trusts and foundations and be expected to undertake travel in the UK where required.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual seeking to develop a career in University development or the charity sector, as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to get involved with the full range of fundraising and alumni activities at the University.
