The GSA is a unique specialist students’ union, with a small, dynamic team of staff and officers. The CEO will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient strategic leadership of the organisation whilst also providing the operational management on a day to day basis. It’s a challenging and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
The CEO is responsible for managing the finances of the organisation, reporting of financial performance and long-term financial planning to ensure the GSA has the resources needed to meet its organisation aims. The GSA has a turn-over of around £300,000 funded by an annual subvention from the University and around £20,000 self-generated income. Funding from the University has already been agreed for the next academic year.
The successful candidate will need to balance the needs of students with the best interests of the organisation and the competing demands of external stakeholders within the University. It’s a challenging role which needs a passionate and driven individual to fill it.
The GSA has reached the end of its current strategic plan and the post holder will be expected to work with the trustees to finalise and implement the new strategic plan. The successful candidate will have real opportunity to input into this process and help shape the future direction of the GSA.
You will work closely with a team of three elected student officers, who start in September. You will provide support and guidance on crucial issues in addition to helping to develop them as individuals and student leaders.
