The International Communications Officer plays a crucial part in the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA). OPPA works with an international community of donors including individual philanthropists, family trusts, foundations and corporates, and our global alumni community of over 140,000 graduates of the University of York.
OPPA is responsible for:
- Philanthropic Partnerships – providing support to students, our academic community and priority programmes at York via gifts, grants and donations.
- York Unlimited – our ambitious fundraising and volunteering campaign.
- York Global Alumni Association, the official alumni community for the University of York. You are considered to be an alum of the University if you have graduated or retired from the University.
You will be part of the communications team and will be responsible for producing engaging content and communicating effectively with our international audiences through digital platforms and print materials. You will bring drive, ambition and enthusiasm to help support our international engagement plan and the University’s strategic philanthropic campaign - York Unlimited.
OPPA works with academics across the University, the University board and donors to secure funding for innovative projects that tackle global challenges such as food sustainability, inequality and mental health, and for scholarships that open up a new world of opportunity for our global student community
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
• You will have experience working as part of a communications team and have skills in communicating with international audiences and managing social media platforms. Experience working in a fundraising or alumni relations office is desirable.
This role is a maternity cover for up to 11 months.
