Vegetarian for Life is the leading authority on diet and healthy living advice for older vegans and vegetarians. We work with a diverse variety of stakeholders, including some of the UK's biggest care chains and food suppliers; government; and partner NGOs, to support, protect, and uphold the rights of older vegans and vegetarians.
As we continue to expand our work, we have an opportunity to create the charity’s first Head of Business Development. The postholder will be responsible for translating our strategy into commercial, income-generating activities, ensuring that we are providing valuable and high-quality paid-for services and activities to older vegans and vegetarians and those who cater for them.
We are looking for an exceptional and passionate individual who will take strategic responsibility for raising our profile among care chains and food suppliers, and exploring new markets.
You will shape the delivery of high-quality training and services, helping Vegetarian for Life to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of older vegans and vegetarians across the UK – both now and in the future.
You will have experience of managing commercial activities in a small- to medium-sized organisation that generates a surplus. You will have proven experience of positioning an organisation for future success by identifying new opportunities and by development or improvement of commercial opportunities. You will be able to develop new insights into situations; question conventional approaches; encourage new ideas and innovations; and design and implement new projects/processes.
You will play a critical role in supporting the governance of our organisation, providing professional advice to our Board of Trustees and reporting on progress against our strategic ambitions. Experience of working in the UK care sector is desirable.
Candidates will ideally be based in, or close to, Greater Manchester. Other UK travel may be required, and you must be prepared and willing to travel for this role.

Salary and benefits:
- From £35,000 p.a. (£17.95 per hour)
- In the region of 37.5 hours per week – full time
