Victim Support is looking for a new Hate Crime Training and Engagement Officer based in South Wales to work 22.5 hours per week.
Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity for people affected by crime in England and Wales. We work towards a world where people affected by crime or traumatic events get the support they need and respect they deserve.
The main purpose of the role is to develop and deliver training on reporting Hate Crime. You will develop a project plan to deliver training to partners, communities and schools and promote and increase the reporting of hate crime and incidents across your region, especially across minority groups. You will be provide virtual training to key partners and communities across South Wales. You will develop appropriate referral pathways and use innovative engagement techniques to engage with communities who may be affected by Hate Crime. You will also recruit and develop a team of Hate Crime Leaders based in a variety of agencies, groups and communities to raise awareness of Hate Crime.
To be successful in this role you will have experience of working across a range of statutory or voluntary agencies and of delivering presentations, talks, workshops or training. You will also have experience of working with issues around diversity and equality and knowledge and understanding of the impact of the Hate Crime. You will have the ability to work with a diverse range of organisations and clients, communicating effectively with a range of people, and you will be able to produce reports and evaluate the service given.
A full driving license and access to a car is essential for this role and there will occasionally be the need to work unsocial hours.
