Victim Support is looking for a Health Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to be based in hospital and health locations within Sussex; with flexibility for home and office working when required.

The main purpose of the Health IDVA role is to provide quality support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse: the focus of the service is on ensuring the safety of those at High Risk of harm. You will be responsible for completing comprehensive initial needs and risk assessments and developing and delivering personalised safety and support plans for clients, many of whom are vulnerable and have complex needs.
You will need to be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant hospital departments, health services, police, adult and children's safeguarding services and other statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver the best possible outcomes within a multi-agency setting. This includes providing advice, support and consultancy to hospital staff and to colleagues within the Domestic Abuse Specialist Service (DASS), and setting up robust and accessible referral pathways.
As well as being tenacious in support of your clients and adept at problem solving, to be successful in this role you will need to be approachable, flexible and caring, demonstrating empathy at all times. You will have had experience of direct service delivery to people with complex needs and will have a good understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on victims and survivors and of safeguarding issues. You will also have an excellent understanding of and commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity.
