Job description

Victim Support is looking for a Medical Services Team Leader in its National Contact Centre in St Mellons, Cardiff.

Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity for people affected by crime in England and Wales. We work towards a world where people affected by crime or traumatic events get the support they need and respect they deserve.

The main purpose of the role is to provide confidential information and support for victims who contact the call centre. The current services are the Victim Information Service; Support Line; and the Information Line for the Independent Inquiry to Child Sexual Abuse. You will also provide high quality, accessible and relevant support for victims and enable users of the service to access further support and information, according to their need and preference. You will also be required to carry out the following duties;

  • Carry out effective line management and manage performance of the team.
  • Provide Safeguarding advice and guidance to call handlers during shifts.
  • provide confidential information and support for callers to fitness to practice Medical Council emotional support service
  • be main point of contact for Medical Council emotional support service for National Contact Centre staff


To be successful in this role you will be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, including telephone skills. You will be able to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrating empathy and controlling your own emotions. You will also be able to demonstrate a strong customer services focus.

As the services are provided between 8am -6pm,Monday to Friday the successful candidate will be required to work flexible across those times and they will also require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
