Job description

Victim Support (VS) is looking for an outstanding Domestic Abuse (DA) Programme Lead who will deliver a transformational national Domestic Abuse development programme. This programme will provide specialist information and support, enabling people to act on domestic abuse as soon as possible and stop it from happening again.

Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity for people affected by crime in England and Wales. We work towards a world where people affected by crime or traumatic events get the support they need and respect they deserve.

The main purpose of the role is to implement a 3-year programme to deliver early help to potential victims of domestic abuse and specialist services to existing victims. The post holder will act as the organisational lead on domestic abuse for Victim Support services across England and Wales, ensuring effective development of operational and strategic policy.

The DA Lead will take overall accountability for the successful delivery of a ground-breaking and accessible model of support for domestic abuse, and ensure that this is embedded within and beyond Victim Support. The lead will continue to develop and manage implementation plans, undertake regular programme monitoring and embed learning realised over the course of the programme.

The DA Lead will also use expert knowledge to set up and take heed of mechanisms for engaging and co-producing with survivors of abuse; and to gather their voices for inclusion at the heart of support resources, campaigning and policy.

Manage relationships with government departments, funders and other key external stakeholders relevant to domestic abuse, including representing Victim Support externally and acting as a media spokesperson where relevant to domestic abuse.

Using project principles and themes to progress the work streams identified in the Project specification within the agreed timescales. To be accountable for management information and contract review reporting, including monitoring against Key Performance Indicators.

To be successful in this role you must have extensive experience of managing services and projects delivering transformative change to support and care for victims.

You will have experience of budgetary control - planning and managing budgets including reporting and dealing with variances and have experience of leading and managing teams through change programmes.

You will be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, including telephone skills. You will be able to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrating empathy and controlling your own emotions. You will also be able to demonstrate a strong customer services focus.
