Year Here is a platform for entrepreneurial professionals who want to build smart responses to social problems.
It’s a new kind of education. It’s action-oriented and real-world. You’ll learn from, and design with, people at the frontline of inequality – in care homes, hostels and youth services across London.
You’ll be focussed one of society's most complex issues: educational inequality, the housing crisis, community resilience, vulnerable youth, or health and wellness.

Beyond Year Here
Our alumni go on to run the social enterprises they start at Year Here, work for fast-growing social start-ups or forge an exciting portfolio career.
They have founded 23 social ventures including:
- Chatterbox, a language tuition service staffed by refugees
- Ally, a chatbot that gives vulnerable young people the information and tools they need to escape homelessness.
- Birdsong, a fashion brand selling clothes handcrafted by women’s groups – from elderly knitters to migrant seamstresses – with a ‘no sweatshops, no photoshop’ ethos
- Fat Macy’s, a catering company that trains homeless Londoners to run supper clubs that help them raise a deposit for their first flat
Collectively they have reached over 3000 beneficiaries, generated more than £1m in revenue and received national coverage in The Guardian, Huffington Post, Independent, Daily Mail, Financial Times, Vice and BBC News.
Our alumni have been award 4 Shackleton awards, a Forbes 30 Under 30, Social Enterprise of The Year and a WeWork Creators award, among many others.
