Over 10,000 carers in Midlothian simply could not manage if it wasn't for the help and support of VOCAL.
Since 1994, VOCAL has worked individually with unpaid carers to identify a plan of support which can include work with other agencies, referral to benefit, legal or power of attorney surgeries, and access to a range of training and lifestyle management opportunities.
Being a carer for a friend, loved one, or family member can be very rewarding, but it has varied and significant impacts on other areas of carers’ lives. By recognising and advocating for carers as equal partners in care, VOCAL supports carers to build on their strengths and skills, identify and achieve their outcomes, strengthen their resilience, and improve their quality of life. Living and breathing by their values, VOCAL believes in diversity, equality of opportunity and choice, and promotes transparency and honesty across all their services.
The charity is looking for an experienced Partnership Development Officer to join their organisation to focus on income generation and establish new partnerships. Reporting to the CEO, you will be required to grow income to include new capital appeal, establish new corporate partnerships and increase and diversify the donor base. You will be responsible for identifying and fostering partnership opportunities with businesses, employers, the hospitality, tourism, and leisure sector, retailers, trusts, and grant-making bodies. By expanding VOCAL’s strategic approach to fundraising with corporate partners, trust funds, foundations, fundraising events, and community initiatives, you will contribute to strengthening the fundraising reach and capacity of the organisation. Developing new relationships and cultivating existing ones with corporates is vital in this role and you should have the ability to build a regular giving campaign and integrate this with communications activity while growing and strengthening VOCAL’s social enterprise initiatives
The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in the charities' mission and will be motivated to support their future development. You should have extensive experience in trust, community, and corporate fundraising and partnership development with experience in project planning, management, and delivery. You will possess fantastic interpersonal skills and be a clear communicator both written and oral. A good understanding of equality and diversity issues and a commitment to equal opportunities is required, along with a good understanding of the prevalence of unpaid carers and their needs and situation. This role requires you to have the ability to self-manage and self-work in a very organised, highly professional, calm, and focused way in competitive and stressful situations with meticulous attention to detail at all times.
If you would like to work for a dynamic, supportive charity and have a passion for vocals work, and are an experienced, competent Partnership Development Officer then please consider this as your next career move.
