VoiceAbility in Suffolk are recruiting for 2 full-time (37.5hpw) Community Advisors to work as part of Wellbeing Suffolk alongside a team of Community Workers and Peer Advisors. You will support people who may be marginalised to access community groups and services. You will enable service users to own, manage, and improve their emotional and mental wellbeing.
VoiceAbility supports people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, VoiceAbility is a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected.
About the role:
The focus of this role is to ensure that Wellbeing Suffolk fully integrates with communities to deliver community-based clinical and social interventions to allow people to access help in the most convenient place and at times that suit them.
Community Advisors shall offer training, awareness and engagement events to educate the public to address stigma and improve the identification and awareness of common mental health disorders with a view to increasing service access for those from under-served populations and backgrounds. They will accomplish this through working in partnership with local organisations and community groups,
through the implementation of pop-up events in under-served communities and at large scale events the service shall increase awareness and access routes into the service, including actively targeting locations and events aimed at groups such as young people, Black and Ethnic Minority (BME), working age adults, carers and older individuals.
Through the work of the Community Advisors, the service shall look for opportunities to co-locate with local community groups, particularly those working with under-served groups, to create opportunities to in-reach and deliver targeted clinical and social interventions to meet their needs.
Location: Suffolk, Stowmarket (Countywide travel)
Hours: 2 x 37.5 hours per week

- 2+ years’ experience of working in Mental Health Services
- 2+ years’ experience of leading, motivating and coaching others
- Managing relationships within the Health & Social Care Sector
- Have good presentation skills
- IT skills – a working knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Must have access to own vehicle and be able to travel across Suffolk working from various sites including Bury St Edmunds
Desirable skills or experience:
- Experience of monitoring and reporting, ensuring data accuracy across a range of metrics and following processes and procedures, making effective use of systems
- Experience of working in a Third Sector organisation.
- General Health and Social Care qualification
- Coaching and mentoring skills or qualification
