Volunteer Centre Hackney (VCH) - an award winning local charity specialising in community and resident led engagement - is recruiting for a full-time Community Connector to support people with severe mental health issues and complex needs to link to their communities and enjoy health and wellbeing activities.
You will be part of a strong and supportive team at VCH, and at East London Foundation Trust, supporting people with severe mental health issues to access appropriate services and to link into community activities in their local area that meet their wider needs, such as finance, housing or employment; as well as to those that will provide them with meaningful engaging activities that suit their skills and interests.
You may also support them to volunteer in a local charity, to develop their own activities or social action projects, if they are interested, such as leading their own walking group or coffee morning and help them to meet local people.
As a Community Connector, you will become a local expert, gathering and sharing information about local opportunities, activities, and support, bringing people together and supporting them to remain confident and independent in their everyday lives. You will be led by individuals themselves, to develop a personalised programme of support, building on their own personal strengths and assets
The programme is funded by East London NHS Foundation Trust, managed by Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, and you will be part of a multi-disciplinary neighbourhood team, working closely with mental health services and key health and social care services, as well as local community and voluntary sector partners. This role is initially offered as a year contract with a possibility of further extension subject to funding. Applications should be made by completing and returning the application form by 9am on Monday 7th February 2022.
Volunteer Centre Hackney is committed to promoting and valuing equality and diversity in all of our activities. We welcome and celebrate the diversity of the communities in Hackney and are strongly committed to achieving equal opportunities and access for all people and groups in society. We actively encourage people from all backgrounds including people with disabilities or support needs, to apply for this opportunity as we really want applicants to reflect the diverse demographics of Hackney residents.
