Everyone in the UK should have the opportunity to thrive. So, we bring people together to overcome some of society’s most complex issues through the power of volunteering. We partner with communities to overcome adversity, tackling social isolation and loneliness, improving health, developing skills and opportunity, and making sure young people can lead change. And because we’re a national charity, we do this at scale, sharing our expertise and building partnerships to make an even bigger impact. We turn local knowledge and energy into action and progress, building stronger communities and a better future for all. Volunteering Matters are looking to recruit an Engagement Manager for our Youth Social Action project in West London.
Team London: Young Ambassadors
Team London Young Ambassadors is the Mayor of London’s volunteering programme for schools, which connects young people with their communities through social action. The programme uses social action to enable young people to address the issues that matter most to them, make positive change in their communities, and build brighter futures for themselves and communities across London.
Purpose of the role
The successful applicant will assist and support the delivery of the Team London: Young Ambassadors Programme within Alternative Provision (AP), Pupil Referral Units (PRU) and Special Educational Need and Disability (SEND) Schools in London and surrounding areas as required.
The Engagement Manager will facilitate sessions which empower young people to build their own social action projects, engage young people, and promote opportunities that combine youth social action, volunteering, and learning. They will play a key role in supporting young people across London to understand the power of their voice, develop meaningful social action in their communities, and provide young people with opportunities to inform system change.
The post also involves networking, report writing, monitoring impact and recording data. The role will include face to face delivery and a willingness to travel across London to promote our work, recruit volunteers / schools, deliver workshops and attend meetings.
This job is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has evidence of mobilizing young people into positive social action.
