Job description

VSA is the largest city social care charity in the UK and has been at the forefront of providing vital care and support to vulnerable children and adults living across Aberdeen and the North East for 150 years.

Every day, VSA change lives by supporting people’s physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing through a wide range of health and social care services including residential services and community outreach programmes. The extent of their support is the provision of 40 services and more than 3,000,000 hours of care to over 20,000 people living with learning disabilities, a mental health diagnosis, loneliness and isolation, additional support needs, poverty, addiction, and long-life conditions such as Parkinson’s and Dementia. Supporting people through some of the most challenging times they have ever experienced, VSA continues to be there for vulnerable children and adults across Aberdeen and strives to give them the best of care to enable them to live the best of lives.

VSA relies on a diverse funding model to raise the money required to help change the lives of vulnerable children and adults. Funding consists of a combination of statutory and voluntary income and the latter comes from six core areas – corporate partnerships and giving; trusts and foundations; events; groups and associations; individual giving; and legacy giving.

The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the cultivation, stewardship and account management of corporate partners including researching and recruiting new individual major donors and philanthropists. This will require the development of relationships with a portfolio of individuals and corporate prospects who have a propensity to give high five, six and seven-figure gifts with multi-year commitments. You must be ambitious and can take ownership of this pivotal role within the Philanthropy and Income Generation team.

To be considered for the role of Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager at VSA, you must have demonstrable experience in business development, income generation or fundraising and a track record of successfully achieving financial targets in a results-orientated environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and as you will be developing relationships with individuals and corporate prospects, evidence of cultivating and maintaining professional relationships at the director level will be required. You will also show experience and ability in developing partnership strategies that have yielded successful outcomes. Strong written communication skills are essential and you will demonstrate an ability to write compelling and successful partnership proposals. This post requires someone strong and assured with drive and tenacity for success.
