Based in Ferring, West Sussex, Wadars is a leading animal rescue charity and has been providing protection of animals of all kinds in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or similar causes since 1969.
To continue the development of our rescue and rehoming of cats, kitten and other small companion animals, we are looking for a full time manager to be responsible for the daily operation of the Cattery and Small Animal Unit, including the care, intake and rehoming of all cats, kittens and other small companion animals, such as rabbits and guinea pigs.
You will lead a small dedicated team including volunteers and vocational students and will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and maintaining best practice across all activities. Duties will include a mixture of training and overseeing others in their role as well as rolling up your sleeves and getting on with daily tasks such as cleaning and disinfection of all areas, food preparation, and daily general health checks.
Professional experience of working with cats in a commercial cattery or rescue environment is essential, as is the management of teams. You will have exceptional animal handling skills (of cats and other small animals), are able to undertake initial assessments and daily health checks and can assess their behavioural issues.
A full clean driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive a Wadars animal ambulance.
The centre is open 365 days a year and therefore, you must be prepared to work on a flexible rota basis, including weekends and Public Holidays. You may also be asked to assist in the provision of 24-hour cover where animals require overnight feeding and/or medications.
