Community Development Manager 

Part time 3 days a week, working hours to be negotiated

12-month Fixed Term Contract, with possibility of extension

Salary: £28,000 Full time equivalent

(£16,800 pro-rated) + 3% pension contribution

Home-based with regular meetings across London

At We Are Family Adoption (WAF), we are on a mission to ensure adoptive parents are part of peer-to-peer communities, offering each other mutual support through the highs and lows of parenting.

This is an exciting time for our organisation. We have ambitious plans to expand our membership and volunteer numbers, provide more of our existing services for more parents, design new services and raise income to support our organisation.

We are now recruiting a Community Development Manager to work with existing and new WAF volunteer-led groups to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate our services. Join us and you will support local groups in practical ways and build a strong volunteering programme. You will achieve this by inspiring and coaching local volunteer teams to follow best practice as well as help them develop partnerships in their local settings. You will ensure our local activities and events, as well as our online community services, are resourced and deliver the greatest impact for members too.

You will also oversee ongoing compliance with legislation and policy, organise and manage inductions, create and deliver volunteer training and toolkit materials as well as maintain volunteer records. Important will be the ability to share learning, implement technology solutions and identify new service offerings.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised ‘self-starting’ individual with experience of working with user-run communities in a volunteer-involving environment. Skilled in supporting volunteer led projects, you will be used to developing and maintaining policies and procedures for volunteers. Critically, you will be adept at collecting, analysing and using data to drive and improve services.

You will be energetic and proactive, as well as comfortable using your strong communication skills to engage and build a rapport with members and volunteers. Able to motivate teams and individuals, you will be results focused and comfortable prioritising projects and working on own initiative.
