Self Employed Project Manager 

 

Terms of employment:  This position is funded by Big Lottery Community fund for 2 years, to then be reviewed.

An exciting opportunity to join a new and growing charity within Herefordshire, engaging in work that will make a difference within the rural community.

We are Farming Minds is a Herefordshire based charity set up by Farmers for Farmers. The charity organizes events, counselling, Mental Health Training and has a 24/7 telephone helpline.  We offer advice and support, encouraging those with poor mental health to seek appropriate help and treatment removing the stigma of mental health issues within the Farming World.

We are looking for a project Manager with experience of working in the charity sector and an interest in mental health and rural community work.

 

Job description:

  • To Manage the day to day running of We are Farming Minds in Herefordshire including financial management
  • To be the first point of contact for We are Farming Minds in dealing with queries and issues
  • To recruit, and manage volunteers for We are Farming Minds
  • To oversee all training for We are Farming Minds (including volunteers)
  • To ensure that We are Farming Minds is compliant with national and local regulations such as Health and Safety and safeguarding
  • To seek and prepare opportunities for funding applications 
  • To liaise with Trustees of We are Farming Minds to ensure that all documentation for the Charity is up to date and the project is running within We are Farming Minds policies such as Safeguarding Policy.
  • Help with delivering activity/promotional days for We are Farming Minds
  • Develop relationships within the local community, council and stakeholders to achieve We are Farming Minds objectives in terms of Mental Health within the Farming World
  • Represent We are Farming Minds at local forums to ensure visibility of the charity within the sector
  • To keep website and social media platforms up-to date.

 

Finance

  • Keep record of expenditure and financial reporting

 

General Expectations 

  • To undertake any reasonable responsibilities as required by Director

 

NB: This Job Description is illustrative and non-exhaustive in scope.  The post-holder may be required to undertake any reasonable tasks as and when required by Line Manager from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the Organisation.

We are looking to appoint a person with the following:

 

  • Ability to work with vulnerable groups
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete successful grant applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of good practice when working with volunteers
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to use one’s own initiative and work independently
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to signpost people to other agencies effectively
  •  Experience of successfully recruiting, supervising, monitoring and supporting others in a paid or unpaid situation.
  •  Working knowledge/ experience of word processing, spreadsheets, data bases and other commonly used software. Experience of using virtual platforms to facilitate virtual meetings
  • Good knowledge and ability to use social media for the benefit of We are Farming Minds
  • Ability to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • An understanding of the Farming Community.
