In our digital era, there is an information access problem, exposing the gap of limited availability of information resources accessible by the visually impaired. Without access to such information, persons with visual impairment often cannot read what they need to. For the visually impaired, access to information like the sighted has proven to be a difficult and expensive demand. This information inaccessibility contributes to high unemployment rates, estimated to be 70% worldwide.
Our mission is to make all the information around us accessible to everyone, particularly addressing the technological digitization challenge for visually impaired people. TACT is developing innovative hardware and software tactile technologies that give visually impaired access to digital information through affordable, portable, and easy to use devices. Our refreshable, multi-line display tactile device, combined with tactile software, comprise a comprehensive solution, offering visually impaired unparalleled accessibility to digital information, that can potentially change the way they live, learn and work.
