Wessex Cancer Trust is a vibrant charity, supporting people affected by cancer across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. Although the charity is approaching its 40th year, the culture is driven by the need to evolve and grow, ever changing and improving – helping more people in more ways.
In 2014, just over 98,600 people in Wessex were living with or beyond cancer. This number is estimated to increase significantly in the next 20 years. This is partly because of the ageing population and increasing incidence, but also because of increasing survival from cancer. By 2030, it is estimated there will be around 164,700 people in Wessex living with and beyond cancer, a potential increase of approximately 67% (Public Health England, Cancer in Wessex 2017)
Wessex Cancer Trust has recently launched a new strategy to allow us to assist a growing number of people affected by cancer in the coming years and to do this we must continue to increase income for the trusts work.
This exciting new part time role (24 hours per week) will work closely with the Director of Development to shape the commercial strategy. In this operational role you will have day-to-day management responsibility for leading on commercial opportunities including securing sponsorship and project funding, developing new commercial income streams and supporting the fundraising and retail team to maximise sales opportunities.
You will be an entrepreneurial and proactive person who enjoys the diverse workload and has significant sales and commercial experience. If you are tenacious and target driven with excellent networking skills and strong financial acumen, then this could be the role for you.
