It’s an exciting time to join The National Lottery Community Fund as the Environmental Officer on a part time basis, 25 hours a week.
The National Lottery Community Fund is delivering an environmental strategy that will not only help communities we Fund but also identifies us as an exemplar in managing our own environmental impact.
The role will help lead our journey to net zero emissions by 2030, as well as support our environmental strategy both internally and externally. An interest in climate change and an understanding of environmental sustainability in the workplace will be a key part to this role as well as the confidence to bring in new ideas.
The role will sit within the Facilities team which helps support all nine of the Funds offices which are based in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The environmental officer role will be varied but some of the key responsibilities are:
- You will be responsible for facilitating the Fund’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move towards being a net zero organisation by 2030. You will lead best practice around environmental sustainability across sites and engage staff to consider their own impact.
- You will draw learning and resources from external sources, to develop an array of approaches, with a view to getting all staff to consider the resources they use, irrespective of their motivation.
- You will support the Fund’s established Climate action network, ensuring that they all feel connected to and can contribute to energy and resource savings projects/initiatives/themes.
- You will ensure projects are well planned and progressed and will collate and share environmental measures to demonstrate achievements.
- You will help with environmental data capture and carbon accounting and reporting on any trends both internally and externally.
- You will also provide relevant updates to SMT and work closely with the SMT lead on environmental sustainability, highlighting any issues requiring resolution.
- The role will mainly be based in one office, but you’ll be required to engage across the Fund and develop communications that will reach all staff.
- You may be drawn into any project/team to advise on environmental sustainability.
- You will engage as the sustainable business partner with internal and external stakeholders and will support the communication of strong external messages declaring our dedication to working sustainably.
The ideal candidate for this role should have:
- Passion, commitment, and enthusiasm to help deliver our net zero targets.
- Good communication skills as well as strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Previous experience of environmental sustainability within the workplace would be beneficial.
Interview Date: Week commencing 13th May
Location: UK - We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices, these are Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Newcastle and Newtown.
There will be a requirement to travel and meet with the line manager in person on an ad hoc basis, they are based in Birmingham.

Desirable criteria
1) Experience with / skills in internal communication
2) An understanding of carbon accounting / managing a Net Zero pathway
3) Ability to confidently engage with similar ALB’s to understand their Net Zero Path
4) Ability to confidently engage with landlords and building managers in order collect relevant environmental reporting data

Salary: £40,845 per annum rising to £42,996 after 12 months in London. £36,817 per annum rising to £38,968 after 12 months outside of London.

Our business is growing, and we’re looking for a passionate and innovative team player to help us provide expert strategy support to clients across England. You’ll need to be a confident facilitator attuned to the needs of the sector, identifying emerging themes and areas of support.
The role focuses on the delivery of consultancy and training. It is responsible for meeting income targets, managing project budgets, and coordinating projects. This is done with oversight and support from senior and lead consultants.
You will:
- develop bids and work with clients independently – gaining input and agreement from other consultants on viability and the decision to bid
- pitch for work
- manage and coordinate projects from end to end, with support from senior and lead consultants
- communicate and influence effectively
- coordinate the work of existing associates and agree fees within an established framework.
You don’t need to have experience working as a consultant before. But we need you to be curious, analytical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
As well as being motivated by creating change for our clients through consultancy, mentoring and training, you will also need to be energised by hitting targets on utilisation and income. Please see the job description for full details.

Working closely with partner organisations, experienced people and organisations in the field, and Government you will lead the design, development, launch and delivery of a large programme improving the lives and aspirations of people and communities across England.

Our ideal candidate will have a background within the charity/not for profit sector and experience in handling an investment portfolio. The role is home based with some travel in/around Hampshire and the IOW. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge and a step up. Our financial information is highly visible to our donors and grantees, so this role is a crucial enabler for the effective delivery of all areas of our work. The role will be overseen by a part time Finance Manager, who will produce management accounts, annual accounts, budgets, forecasts etc. Part time work will be considered for the right candidate.
The Finance Officer/Bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely finance administration, across two databases (currently Sage and Salesforce). This is a vital role within HIWCF, as high quality finance information is fundamental to our role and reputation in the region as a trusted partner for our fundholders and grantees.
Key Tasks
· Adding all payments transactions (grants, invoices, salaries, expenses, HMRC payments etc) to Sage and the bank accounts, ensuring all evidence is correct and payments are correctly authorised
· Adding all donation income to Sage and Salesforce, and working with other team members to ensure they are acknowledged appropriately
· Adding all quarterly investment income to Sage and Salesforce and reconciling across both databases, and to the investment house reports and bank account
· Regular reconciliations between Sage and Salesforce and bank accounts
· Ensure HMRC payments and gift aid claims are undertaken in a timely manner
· Manage banking records
· Monthly reconciliations for Bank account, purchase ledger, Sage, Salesforce, prepayments, accruals, salaries, PAYE, pension etc
· Monthly journals for non-cost items
· Manage pension with NEST and other ad hoc pension providers and manage insurances
· Ad hoc finance related tasks including reporting on returned grants, managing pension payments, insurances etc
· Any other appropriate tasks as directed
