At Winchester Go LD our focus is to enable adults with learning disabilities to live life to the full with the choices and independence that they want.  We promote self development, friendship, self confidence, creativity and learning.  We also like to have fun! 

We have a range of weekly and monthly activities and we provide advocacy, information,  safeguarding and skills workshops.

We respect and promote the rights of people with a learning disability and their families to speak up on issues both locally and nationally.  We aim to raise awareness, change attitudes and influence policy.

Our Charity Operations Manager plays a key role in our mission to enable adults with learning disabilities to live life to the full, with the choices and independence that they want. You will manage staff and volunteers ensuring that all operations align with the charity vision and objectives, co-organise and contribute to the delivery of a number of Winchester Go LD’s projects, develop relationships with all stakeholders and deputise for the CEO as required.

Key Contribution Areas:

· Manage staff and volunteers, including supervision, objective setting, training, recognition and development.

· Work with all the stakeholders of the charity; members (adults with learning disabilities), their families, the Trustees, professionals and the wider community to provide information, signposting and service delivery.

· Approving and recording expenses and financial transactions, and monitoring budgets in line with finance policies.

· To continue a good working partnership with The Discovery Centre, ensuring access to Winchester Go LD office and the community area for service delivery and be responsible for scheduling evening meetings.

· Attend professional meetings on behalf of the charity and represent the needs of our members. Promote networking and collaborative work with other organisations, increase the charity’s profile and look for funding opportunities.

· To support fundraising by working with fundraising committee and through increasing the Winchester Go LD’s profile in community and corporate fundraising. To include managing the charity’s fundraising on Platforms such as Just Giving, Kindlink and Easyfundraising.

· Ensuring smooth running of the IT systems, to include staff training, problem shooting, allocation of staff and Trustee access to documents on shared drive, working with IT support when required.

· Support staff and volunteers in project and charity event planning. Ensure that appropriate Risk Assessments on all activities, events and outings are carried out.

· Manage the recruitment process and procedures. DBS register for all staff, trustees and volunteers, renewing checks as required.

· Ensure that all Winchester Go LD’s policies are reviewed and up to date. To implement the Health and Safety protocols and to take responsibility for member safety in the office and on charity organised outings.

· To process and claim Gift Aid for Winchester Go LD.

· To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive records and for compliance with statutory requirements such as GDPR. To maintain databases and assist the reporting on project outcomes.

Previous Experience:

Considerable administration experience.

Generating projects and delivering them.

Working with adults with a learning disability (desirable but not essential).

Good understanding of the barriers to independence faced by people with learning disabilities.

Knowledge of HR procedures and management of a small team.

Good understanding of budgets (organisational and project) and financial reporting.

Knowledge of risk management and health and safety and policy and procedures.

Knowledge of different communication methods including Easy Read and Makaton (desirable but not essential).

Knowledge of local community.

Knowledge of local education and activity service providers.

Excellent IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office and Word spreadsheets.

Communicate effectively and sensitively with different people.

Support people in a way that respects choice, dignity and privacy.

Relationship building with different stakeholders

Working on databases, updating and maintaining essential information.

Complete and maintain accurate written records and follow policies and procedures.

Able to work using own initiative, plan and prioritise workload.

Awareness of and commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all.

Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of individuals, the service and organisation.

Willingness to undertake relevant training.

20-25 hours per week over 3-5 days (days are flexible).

Salary is Pro rata.
