Passionate about animal welfare, Wood Green, The Animals Charity is a leading organisation that's dedicated to improving the lives of creatures great and small.

An exciting opportunity has risen to join our Dog Care team in a full time role.

A dog carer will form part of a large team of staff and volunteers implementing a high-quality care provision and supporting a rehoming journey through assessment, behaviour modification and high-quality customer service.

The ability to work both as part of a large team and independently is essential alongside an ability to work alongside other stakeholders in our pet service teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide all dogs in care with core 'life skills' training during all interactions to improve their chance of success in a new home
  • Utilise a high level of practical training skills to build a positive emotional state and subsequent behaviour pattern that improves welfare and increases the chance of success in a new home
  • To introduce, translate and deliver training and behaviour plans to Pet Seekers in a user-friendly way to ensure the individual dogs requirements are understood and taken on in the new home

The successful candidate will have proven experience of being a strong team player able to have a positive outlook in what can be an emotionally demanding role and be able to perform tasks of a physical nature such as dog walking 3-4 hours a day.

A qualification in Animal management or behaviour or experience working or voluntary with dogs is desirable for this role.

Salary- £18,138 - £19,698, depending on experience
