Head of Resources
Woodcraft Folk are looking to appoint a Head of Resources to join a newly formed Senior Management Team for the organisation.
Woodcraft Folk is a co-operative youth movement open to everyone. We support children to take the lead and change the world through weekly group nights and camps. Woodcraft Folk activities develop children’s understanding of the world around them and help them to span the world with friendship. We’ve been running since 1925 and we’re still going strong!
Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with the Senior Management Team, to develop the vision for Woodcraft Folk, focusing particularly on the Finance, IT and HR systems. Woodcraft Folk has small financial resources (annual income of approx £1.5m and less than 20 staff) but significant human resources in the form of over 3,000 volunteers who play many roles, including over 100 volunteer treasurers. The Head of Resources needs to bring a professional approach to Woodcraft Folk’s systems and controls, balanced with an understanding of how to motivate and support volunteers.
Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the charity’s operations and we moved swiftly to online provision of quality education for social change. Woodcraft has 5 outdoor centres and campsites providing education through group accommodation. The centres are currently only able to offer accommodation to family groups. The Head of Resources will need to produce regular income reforecasts as society opens up and we are able to host groups of young people again.
Woodcraft Folk has decided that all staff who used to be based in our London office will now be based at home. This will enable the South London offices to be sold and release funds to invest in our educational work. The Head of Resources will lead on this sale.
The Head of Resources will be joining Woodcraft Folk at a time of significant change for the organisation. If you are a qualified accountant with strong financial management experience, gained preferably in the charity sector; and if you have a breadth of management experience and are looking for a senior management role, then we would like to hear from you!
