The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.
We are recruiting for three Policy Advocate posts. We are seeking one post to lead our development/planning policy advocacy work, and two posts to lead our land use policy advocacy work (using experience and policy expertise in the following areas: agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, climate change and natural capital).
As part of the Conservation Policy team, the Policy Advocate post is responsible for leading the development of evidence based organisational policy positions and influencing strategies, and to advocate and influence decision makers to help achieve the Trust's policy goals. The roles will be required to work closely with colleagues to ensure our organisational positions and public policy goals are well evidenced, robust and influential.
You will be a strong negotiator who has the ability to influence differing audiences, using your previous experience within a policy or advocacy role to ensure all policies align to the Woodland Trust overall objectives and goals.
We are seeking a candidate for the planning policy advocate role with an RTPI qualification.
You will enjoy working at pace and will demonstrate strong leadership skills, able to collaborate and lead small cross-organisational teams to develop workable policy solutions and deliver results. You will have a clear understanding of the potential future shifts in policy and political context for UK conservation NGO’s and the potential impacts of Brexit.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
