Job description

Are you passionate about helping people to turn their lives around? Are you a people person with the drive to make a real difference?

If so, you might be the person we’re looking for to join our small, friendly team of Employment Advisors.

Working Chance is a unique, award-winning charity helping women with convictions - many of whom have been in prison - to find a job they can thrive in.  The Employment Advisors help our clients to find work that fits their skills and aspirations and that enables them build the life they want.  You will do this either by advising clients on their own job search and applications, or by supporting them to apply for roles with particular employers we have relationships with.

The ideal candidate will be highly empathetic with fantastic people skills and able to quickly build rapport. You’ll need personal credibility and confidence to liaise with employers about vacancies they need to fill. Excellent literacy and proofreading skills are essential so that you can help clients to produce high quality CVs and supporting statements.
Previous experience of supporting people into employment, perhaps gained in an employment service or as a recruitment consultant, is a must.  Experience of working with people who have faced adversity and complex challenges would be an asset.

We’re passionate about ensuring that there’s a strong mix of people from varying backgrounds and experiences amongst our staff. We're aware of the underrepresentation of people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds in the charity sector and are keen to lead this change. That’s why we are particularly keen to hear from people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

We also warmly welcome applications from people with convictions. This role requires an enhanced DBS check for safeguarding reasons only, i.e. in order to ensure the safety of the women we support. We welcome you contacting us if you have any queries about this.
