Job description

Working Well is a specialist employment charity working mainly in the East End of London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of those with mental health, learning disabilities and autism  through training and employment.

We are a recruiting a new specialist to join our existing mental health in-work support team.  Managing and supporting people’s mental health at work is a critical and growing challenge:

  • Mental ill health at work costs UK employers £26 billion per year –£2.4 billion a year in replacing staff who leave their jobs because of mental ill health
  • Stress / mental health problems are now the biggest cause of long-term sickness absence among all workers
  • 92% of British public believe admitting to a mental illness would damage someone’s career

The successful candidate will perform an important role in improving outcomes for employees with lived experience of mental health distress. We support people throughout the return to work process using a client led and strength- based approach.  Clients often contact Working Well when they are facing disciplinary or capability proceedings so the specialist will need to be able to navigate them through the process(es), understand the key issues, request adjustments and agree a way forward to enable them to return to work.  The Retention Specialist will also work collaboratively with occupational health, union representatives and mental health professionals.

You must be comfortable in working with employers in often challenging situations, persuading them to use our service, working with them to agree a way forward and to increase awareness of mental health support in the workplace.

Please attach your personal statement to the end of your CV.  The statement should address how your experience and skills meet the requirements set out in the person specification.

The deadline for applications is Friday 15th November at 9am.  An initial short-list will be compiled on that day and selected candidates will be contacted for a screening interview on Monday 18th November. Formal interviews will be held on Monday 25th November.

Staff benefits include an employer contribution to a personal or workplace pension equivalent to 6% of gross salary.  30 days annual leave plus paid public holidays.

Working Well Trust is an equal opportunities and confident about disabilities employer.
