Job description

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental health support needs and who are at risk of losing their job.

We are recruiting an In Work Employment Support Worker for our In Work Service in Tower Hamlets.

Experience of retention or in work support is not needed, but we are looking for someone who already has experience of employment support. You will receive training related to retention support and in supporting people with mental health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to stay in work, and to support employers to retain staff with mental health support needs.  Good communications and organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in mental health, and the role it plays in the workplace. The successful candidate will need to become comfortable in approaching employers, persuading them to let us work with them so that we can find a solution for them and for the individual employee.

You will work 35 hours per week including late working on one evening to accommodate people who cannot get time off work to meet us.  You will be based in Tower Hamlets at least three days a week and will attend meetings with employers across London.  You have the option to work from home for up to two days a week.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them to stay in their current work.  If clients are not able to return to their existing role/employer, you will work with them to achieve other outcomes such as alternative employment or to reach a settlement agreement.

We support clients using a person centred and strengths-based delivery support model, whilst building positive relationships with employers to enable to retain and support employees impacted by mental health challenges.
