World Land Trust (WLT) is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead its Communication team in producing consistent and engaging communications across digital and print. This position offers a real opportunity to make a powerful impact in an organisation committed to the long-term conservation of the world’s critically threatened habitats and their endangered species. Reporting to the Director of Communication & Development, the Communications Manager will work with, and inspire, a small, dynamic and knowledgeable team and instil a sense of pride in all visual and written communications throughout the organisation.
Working with WLT
WLT is based in the UK and is unique within the conservation world. Reaching its 30th year of operation, the Trust has grown from small beginnings saving critically threatened forest in Belize to become an internationally respected conservation organisation with a proven track record, working with 35 overseas conservation NGOs on protection of threatened habitats. WLT has developed its modus operandi without losing its vision, integrity and transparency. You will be expected to learn the history, ethos and vision of WLT and become fluent in WLT’s work and its projects early on.
What you will be doing
The Communications Manager will be able to interpret, promote and clearly articulate the mission and ethos of the WLT. We are looking for a demonstrable track record in communications, publishing or copywriting, with experience of working on a diverse range of communication strategies to oversee WLT’s printed and digital communications. You will have hands-on experience of managing, motivating and developing a team, combining the innovative flair of a creative communicator with the practical focus of a manager. You will oversee the development and constant maintenance of the website, ensuring high-quality content across the website and all other public materials. The ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships across functions and with external stakeholders is essential, along with the professionalism and credibility to act as spokesperson for WLT as required.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced candidate who is keen to integrate themselves into a small, fast-paced, dedicated team, while grasping responsibility with both hands. You will need a proven track record of success in the production and delivery of creative communication and will have a fluid attitude and lively mind that ensures all communications are vibrant and inspirational.
