Job description

Purpose of the role:

WEA have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, the Financial Accountant will develop and support a first-class internal financial accounting function. You will be responsible for delivering high quality financial and statutory accounts, ensuring internal controls are adequate with all processes, procedures and policies followed.

Key areas of responsibility:

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

- Managing the Financial Transactions Team which is responsible for all financial transactions excluding payroll.
- Ensuring there are adequate controls for all transactional procedures.
- Ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
- Producing monthly management reports for internal and external use.
- Taking a leading role in the production of the Association`s statutory accounts, the annual external audit process and timetable.
- Act as lead on the Association`s insurance.
- Managing and reporting on day-to-day cash flow

About you:

Do you have the following knowledge, skills and abilities?

- Qualified CCAB accountant.
- Experience of building high-performing finance teams.
- Highly proficient and experienced in financial accounting and reporting including external statutory reporting and audit.
- Working with external financial bodies, such as banks, HMRC, pension and insurance providers and other agencies
- Proven ability for implementing and monitoring financial controls.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
- A passion for adult education, and making a difference!
