Job description
This organisation supports anonymous recruitment. That means hiding your personal identifying information, removing bias from the hiring process.

If you want to work for a young, impact-driven organisation that helps young people be top of their game, we want you!

The post holder will be a key member of the project and programmes team working across a portfolio of our inspiring projects and programmes that support young people to develop their skills, empower their potential and influence change. Working with others, you will be responsible for maximising the number of young people on our programmes.

We are looking for someone with excellent project and time management skills and someone with an understanding of the issues facing young people, and how these can be addressed through programme design and delivery.

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver engaging and effective facilitation, training, and events to young people with diverse needs both in-person and online.
  • Support the Head of Programmes with the coordination and administration to deliver our programmes.
  • Work with young people to co-produce pieces of work that will lead them to influencing change.
  • Establish positive relationships with young people and promote active participation.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of organisations including but not limited to schools, youth services and local councils.
  • Bring new ideas and approaches to our work.
  • Translate complex concepts (like gender inequality), campaigns and policy into workshops and digital content.
  • Learn and train in skills for becoming an effective campaigner and advocate.
  • Support the Head of Programmes with the monitoring and evaluation of our work as required.

What we'd like from you:

  • Experience of working with young people in a range of settings including group and individual.
  • Experience of using social media at a strategic level.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral, written, and presentational.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for working with young people.
  • Resilience, tenacity, and strong influencing skills.
  • Self-starter and able to work alone.
  • Excellent collaborative worker.
  • Understanding of community engagement, volunteering, and social action
  • Ability to determine priorities and targets.
  • Understanding of inclusion and differing needs of young people from varying backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
  • Understanding and experience of child protection and safeguarding (training will be provided).

Important Information

  • Based in Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester. We do not expect our staff to work from the office 100% of the time. We are a flexible employer, but we also understand the need to separate work from home and we are always mindful of work-life balance.

  • You will get 26 days’ holiday in addition to UK public holidays, 3 mental health days and religious holidays as required. You will also be entitled to 2 volunteering days to volunteer at any other organisation.

  • These posts are funded by The National Lottery Community Fund

One of the factors which makes Youth Leads UK’s approach different is our belief in the value of youth insights and input to guide our work at the highest levels. The post holder will be expected to understand youth involvement and be an advocate to empower our young people to contribute to these discussions.

Due to the hectic lives of young people, we must remain flexible in our delivery and we expect all our staff to be as flexible as possible – this would typically include the willingness to take on tasks outside the normal remit from time to time and to work irregular hours often evenings and weekends as required.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months from your start date. We have two positions available and your hours would be 28 hours across 4 days per week. Our core hours are 10am to 6pm, but with flexibility as our sessions are delivered in the evenings and we may have evening meetings. The start date can be negotiated, and this role may be extended to three years in total.
