You’re able to proactively spot and exploit relevant comms opportunities and have experience in maximising the potential of social media for a brand. You’ll recognise the huge potential to be unlocked across Youth Music’s various channels and can work strategically across the organisation to achieve this in partnership with young people.
You’ll be a highly skilled communicator and storyteller who can combine a keen eye for detail with the big picture. Able to plan, execute and operate at pace, you’ll have a strong understanding of brand building, and the role of communications as part of this.
You will be a confident leader with a record of delivering results-led communication. You’ll thrive under pressure and can work flexibly to juggle multiple priorities. You’re a strong team worker able to drive your team, external agencies, freelancers, and senior stakeholders towards deadlines and agreed outcomes.
About the role
Youth Music’s business plan is being redeveloped to meet our growing ambitions. The Communications Manager will be central to developing and driving the communications strategy over the next 12 months, so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to really make their mark. It’s an exciting position, as we expand our strategy and team, with scope to engage new audiences and put young people at the centre of our work.
The role has oversight of all communications functions at Youth Music including content, marketing, digital, campaigns, PR and evaluation. Working across all teams in the 22-person organisation, the Communications Manager role will be about ensuring that everything fits together both operationally and strategically.
The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer. It sits in the CORE (Communications, Operations, Research & Evaluation) team and also works directly with our CEO, Programme Director and Youth Engagement Director. It includes line management of the Digital Content Editor and Digital Marketing Officer, as well as a number of external suppliers and agencies. This includes our PR agency, Stand, and working with our network of young creatives as part of Youth Music Next Gen.
